AHC Training Options

Organizations utilizing horses to support 1) equine assisted activities and therapies; 2) equine assisted psychotherapy; and or 3) equine assisted learning, should apply for educational funding on behalf of the organization's adaptive riding instructors, therapists, employees and or volunteers.

EMPLOYEE/VOLUNTEER TRAINING

Workshops such as the educational opportunities described below are examples of funding areas requested through the America’s Horse Cares grant program. Organizations may request funding for multiple workshops.

American Hippotherapy Association (AHA)

CENTER IMMERSION TRAINING

Funding in this category is utilized to assist organizations that bring in an expert clinician to provide immersion training for employees and volunteers. A recognized model of practice should be identified in an effort to improve specific services and or the overall working relationships between organization employees, volunteers, etc. Components necessary for training include:

  • Minimum of 10 organization employees must participate in the training;
  • 100% effort for employee participation is required;
  • Clinician must be a member in good standing with one or more of the following associations (AHA, CHA, EAGALA, PATH);
  • Clinician must be well versed in theory and training methods of the respective association and adhere to their practice guidelines;
  • Clinician must have presented previously at a regional and or national conference for the respective association;
  • Clinician must provide center with resume and detailed curriculum or syllabus identifying all learning objectives and outcomes, with measures for success;
  • Organization must submit copy of clinician's resume and curriculum along with grant application.
