  • Commitment – determines what you want to do.
  • Character – determines what you will do.

MISSION: to empower AQHA members with enhanced educational opportunities that strengthen leadership within the American Quarter Horse industry.

VISION: through the development of advanced education and training both nationally and internationally, we ensure the resources needed to steer the American Quarter Horse industry toward a sustainable future.

Desired Student Impact

  • Reduce financial burden of advanced education.
  • Enable students to see their future career possibilities.
  • Recognize accomplishments and hard work.
  • Increase financial capacity and social mobility of recipients.
  • Increase student’s ability to contribute as active members of society.

How to Apply

Applications for 2025 will close January 15, 2025.

Applicants will complete a single application to determine your eligibility for available scholarship funding. Eligibility of applicants is based on the individual criteria and requirements provided for each scholarship offered. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, financial need and Quarter Horse involvement, as well as an applicant’s outstanding leadership and communication skills. The grading scale for selection of each scholarship will vary dependent upon the criteria established by that scholarship's donor.

Submitted materials must include a completed application form with financial information, resume, three reference letters or appraisal forms, and transcript. Students applying for a state or regional scholarship will also need to provide proof of membership in their state affiliate.

Recipients are chosen by a selection group as determined by the American Quarter Horse Foundation’s Board of Trustees. All recipient recommendations made by the selection group are ultimately approved by the Board of Trustees.
